Welcome to the REM Dublin Site

Welcome to the R.E.M. Dublin page, the new R.E.M. Info/Blog site which covers all things to do with R.E.M. in Dublin, past, present, and future. Anyone can comment.

We've set this page up as a one-stop for fans planning to attend shows during R.E.M.'s 5-night WORKING REHEARSAL in Ireland's capital.

Hi all. Need two tickets any night, pref. 3 July, can anyone help?

Billy

Circle, Row C, seats 18/19.

Make an offer.

What would you take - what was face value?

I don't want to insult with too low an offer - nor do I want to make you a rich man/woman at my expense, I'm a genuine fan and only missed out by minutes when they were released!!!

Bill

Hi!

Ok I will probably get in trouble for this but I really really don't like people who sell tickets off for a profit.

I understand that you might have come from san francisco - but you should be happy you managed to get tickets for the gigs. I travelled to New York, Boston and Atlanta to see REm after seeing them play belfast and Dublin. I was paying that off for quite a while but it was worth it - and I had a spare ticket for one of the concert I could have got a lot of money for but I just couldn't do it!

I'm from Dublin and the Olympia is a fantastic venue. I'm working in Germany at the moment but when my friend called to tell me REM were playing the olympia I did not believe him. I was close to booking a flight home just so I could get to the olympia box office to get tickets for the nights I couldnt get through sandbag. Luckily I have sone good friends in dublin who went to the olympia and bought some tickets. Anyhow you should understand just how much it means to see REM in this venue and if you have a spare ticket I think it should go to a genuine fan for the price you paid for it.

I now wait for people to give out to me :)

Well said, I couldn't agree more!

Hi guys
im looking for 1 ticket for saturday or sunday if anyone has one going let me know. i will pay normal cost and any normal charges you may have with it, i wont pay over the odds even though i know it is worth it! Try and get the fanclubbers and murmurs'ians in there and rock the foundations of that great building.

To the guys with the tix already, damn your going to see something special, please relish every minute of it.

On a side note ive been listening to REM/U2 performance of "One" on youtube, it is special with Michaels vocals. just trying to flavour the mood for the guys playing in Dublin and also trying to bridge the link of REM+Ireland connection.

Thanks again R.E.M. for doing it yor way and a little differently.

I can't wait.... flying in on Sunday from Manchester. Hubby (essentially a Gabriel fan rather than r.e.m ) might well prove to be an inhibitor... as he gets nervous in crowds and I have every intention of getting as close as I can. I am going to try and persuade him to remain in a bar all night to wait for my return from the concert, rather than him quake at going into the melee! So if he agrees to stay outside I might have a ticket Sun night standing to part with -..... so I would say to anyone who can get there, to go on off chance of picking up a ticket. I did for Stirling Scotland on the Up tour....drove from Cheshire to Stirling in 3 hours (no speed cameras thankfully) and paid £50 to a tout for a ticket and was pleased to do so. Best concert (til then) of my life and I have seen Beatles, The Who, Dylan, Led Zep etc etc in my time. I would have paid double that... since then done Manchester Move when Michael came to the crowd at the front... Sheffield x 2, Hammersmith.... rather scarey jumping crowd at the front.... and Hyde Park.....I cannot wait for Sunday and the small venue.....

so all help me keep hubby in a bar...... even elder daughter wouldnt go to the front at Hammersmith .... I must have no sense at my age....but.... what the heck ( can you tell I am excited yet?)

I hope someone will look after hubby on the night... he is a gentle soul, american Prog rock fan.... where might be a good Dublin place to encourage him to wait close to the venue?

Even though the Olympia backs into the busy tourist-trap Temple Bar, there are a few quiet pubs south of, and not far from the venue, the Long Hall springs to mind.

If he's not into beer (gods forbid) there's even Dublin's solitary Starbucks a couple of hundred yards east of the theatre. Have a great sunday (gig).

Woooooo! Three (count 'em - *three*!) days to go..!

Hi everyone. Lovely to read all the excitement. Getting a bit of a buzz myself. Time to pack the galoshes and wet suit.

Being a duffer at ticket buying I got two standing for Saturday and one standing in the circle. I needed three and had to sign up son James and go round the loop to buy the third ticket, by which time only standing circles were available. Bit confused as I haven't heard anyone refer to standing up there. Any way....I'd love to swop the circle for a stalls standing ticket so that me, my son and my husband can all enjoy the concert together.

See you all at Brogans BTW. I'll be wearing the green egg.

I think it's a bit rich calling Dirwin a tout, someone who is obviously a fan but wants to recoup some of the cost of flying halfway around the world to support a band. Why don't you direct your annoyance towards the many people who bought up tickets purely to put them on ebay the following day at massively inflated prices? Thats far more rife & far more damaging but you haven't addressed it at all, & it's also what causes the inflation in market value.

What do you need for them???????

Hi Dirwin, is there any chance you still have these two tickets??? I'm from Brazil and i'm arrinving in Dublin next week...I'm REALLY REALLY INTERESTED IN THESE TICKETS!!!! I'll pay a very good price

Circle tickets are going for 300euro for a pair, and for much worse seats than row C (which I have). I have tickets to July 1st too, and would like to go to both shows, but I need to offset the cost of coming from San Francisco. If I can't get 300euro for them, I will just go to the show.

To clarify, I will be in town, and will be able to pick up the tickets at the box office on the day of the show. We can make the exchange in person.

Email me if you're serious: irwind@sbcglobal.net

So... do you still have them, please quote how much you want if you have!

Thanks

Billy

I have one for saturday 30th, General admission standing to be collected at the venue.

Hi

Is the ticket for Saturday still available? how much ?

Lisa

I have one for saturday 30th, General admission standing to be collected at the venue.

Im keen...How much??

Just can't wait for the shows - my sister and I are coming to the last two from England. We are also lucky enough to be at the shows with Robyn Hitchcock - could this get any better?

It'll be fantastic to hear some brand new R.E.M songs - it seems so long ago since Around the Sun came out and it'll be equally wonderful to hear the older songs. Just can't wait.

We feel lucky and privileged that we are able to be at two of those already mythical Dublin shows.

We need a REM-fix badly, and this is just what the doctor ordered!

Thank you R.E.M. (and all the people behind the scenes!)

@nton & Janet

Last show I saw was in Montreal in 2004 and I, too, am in need of an REM-fix! I'm so excited to hear the new music - and in such a cool venue.

I'll be coming in from Memphis, Tennessee for the shows on July 3 & 4. Any rumors of pre (or post) show pub crawls either night?

ShellBell

hi all,

first time posting here.

Have to say I cannot wait for the show on Saturday week. The small matter of Peter Gabriel and INXS to get thru before then though. I went to see James at the Olympia a few weeks ago and to anyone who has never been to the Olympia before, you are in for an amazing treat. The place is just so small.

When I was a kid I went to the Christmas Panto at the Olympia and I always thought that it was huge. Well it isn't. There is barely a bad view to be had and the acoustics are pretty good except for right down the back where it can echo a bit!

Anyway I just wanted to say thanks to everyone in the queue on the Saturday morning when tickets went on sale. We were only allowed 2 tickets per show and 4 overall so we all did a bit of swapping to get the nights that we wanted. I got my 4 tickets and it is gonna be brilliant! The tickets are all taken by the way.

See ya all there.

Hi everyone, I have 2 tickets for the 3rd but i'm coming on my own. Does anyone have, or know of anyone who has, a ticket for the 4th which could be swapped for one of mine for the 3rd?

Thanks.

Hi everyone! I really want one ticket for any of those concert dates...any seat...I'll pay a very good price!!! Can anyone please help me????

I just want to warn everyone who is thinking of buying a ticket that has to be picked up at the box office (which is the case for customers from outside UK/ Ireland): Don't do it, as you won't be able to collect the ticket.

I did a deal with someone in southern Europe, and according to Sandbag and the box office it was just not possible to transfer the ticket to my name. I was lucky though, as I was able to buy tickets from Sandbag last week when they had a few extra to sell.

So if you want to buy a ticket, get it from someone who has the ticket in hand. And remember: A true fan who has a spare ticket will sell it for face value!

Stine from Norway

Not everyone wants to fool other people!

I am resident outside the UK/Ireland, but I am selling my husband's ticket as he cannot come to the concert, but I am going anyway on my own.
I'll pick up my extra ticket and I will sell it the day of the concert at the theatre.
as simple as that!

I didn't mean that people would do that to fool others, and the guy I had a deal with did refund my money. The examples that you are mentioning is basically a ticket in hand situation, as you are going to pick the tickets up before you hand one over.

I just wanted to point out that once the reservation has someone's name on it, it can't be changed and hence the ticket can't be picked up by anybody but the person who reserved it.

I'm looking for a ticket in any date... Can anyone help me?

...You have to make an in-person exchange bc the buyer of the ticket must pick it up him/herself on the day of the show. That should make any buyer feel safe, as you won't have to give money w.o getting the ticket.

hi,everyone, has anyone got a ticket for any night, i live just outside dublin, will pay good price ,r.e.m fan for 20 years please help a long time fan,
email jtracey1@msn.com
thanks joe

This site could be really interesting and useful if it gets used for something besides ticket exchanges/sales. It's cool that you guys set this up.

Anticipation building.

I have 2 tickets for 3 july. Probably I will only need one of them as I doubt that my husband can go. They are unreserved seats in the upper circle. I may sell one or trade two tickets for one ticket closer to the stage. As I live in Norway, I'll have to pick up the tickets on the day of the show. Email me if you have an offer.

this should be great, perfect venue perfect band can't wait..
Thank you to all who made it happen. Been a massive REM fan all my life ,seen them many times , but looking forward to this one so so much.

Time to crank up the excitement!!

This is getting REALLY exciting now - I can't believe it's so close. Great idea for this site, I shall now get hysterically excited and someone will have to slap my face to calm me down....

Form an orderly queue, please...

Oh I wish I could be there on the Saturday to see how hysterically excited you actually are!!!

I knew it wouldn't take long...can anyone post a blog on here, and how do you do it?

Im 15,000 kms to far away from Dublin unfortunately.

Are you selling those fantastic Tshirts by any chance?

its a dream venue for rem but if you have upper circle tickets, beware!

the seats in the upper circle are really bad beacause the venue hasnt been rennovated in years. most seats up there give you a crap view of the stage. seeing as the upper circle is unreserved seating, you should get there as early as possible. seats in the circle arent so bad.

by the way the entrance for the upper circle (and the circle) is down the lane between the venue and grogans pub- just so you dont que up early at the front entrance only to be told you were at the wrong place!

hope this helps! see you all in maureen's bar!
cant fucking wait!!!

Hi Guys,

I am involved in a charity, Chernobyl Children of Mozyr (charity no. 9602381A). We bring children from Mozyr in Belarus who are ill and need respite holidays. I was given 2 tickets for the 3rd July from a fan who wanted to donate something to the charity. I heard about this website on the radio today and thought it would be the best place to get them to someone who really wants them. I am not looking for any specific amount of money for the 2 tickets, but please bear in mind ALL of the money received for these tickets go into our holiday fund for the children (who incidently arrive this week!).

Anyone wishing to obtain these tickets should message me here.

First genuine good offer will get them.

Thanks guys,

Your money goes a long way to bring the children a long way.

will e200 get the 2 tickets?
am i the lucky one?
what are you looking for them

connaup2
I will accept 200 euro for the tickets. Thank you very much for helping out the charity. Email me at damo_noodles@hotmail.com and we can organise to get them to you asap.

Flashmeister, I don't want to start a bidding war for them, as it is not in the spirit of what I'm trying to achieve, which is get some money in for the charity and get the tickets to fans, hence this is why they arent on ebay. As they are standing tickets, maybe ask our friend connaup2 if he is open to a deal? Apology's my friend, but he did offer cash first.

Regards,

Damian
