Photos e-mailed to that address, even from a cell phone, will show up on REMDublin.com

So does that mean we can take cameras into the Olympia? Don't want to risk mine getting taken off me if I try to take it in...
on the back of the tkt it says no cameras or recording equipment
It says that on most tickets for most events, but it is usually up to the security at the venue on the night. I've been to some where I was allowed and some where I wasn't. I'm not sure whether to bring mine either but I think I might chance it.
Camera phones!
I've got a PDA phone (O2 XDA II), which in theory is capable of recording audio and video of the show - how does security react to something like that? And if they don't let you take it in, what do they do? It's a theatre, so do they have some wardrobe facility or something? Or do they turn you away and let you figure out where to store it?
Or better yet - have they just given up on the battle against phones?
I'll be at the show tomorrow night - maybe people at the show tonight could clue us in on what security is like.
There is a cloakroom but I have no other info as I have never used it. I go to about 20 gigs a year in the Olympia and I have only recall ever been searched once and that was just for "concealed weapons". I asked who the hell would want to bring a knife to a Stereophonics gig, the reply was "you never know".
Hey, thanks for that info, that's helpful.
BTW, since you go to the Olympia so often: if doors open at 7:30, what time do people start queueing outside? I've got GA tix for tomorrow.
I saw people outside at 10:30 AM on Saturday. I turned up at 7:00 and got in pretty early. That was upper circle, though, which has a separate queue around the side.

Hi I don't normally queue but you can get pretty close if you are there about 7:30. To to get a wrist band I would say that you probably would want to get there no later that 4 I guess.
Security did not mind my Nokia, my XDA Exec, or the Samsung NV10. Should be fine with anything. I saw people carrying in laptop bags and everything (upper circle), so you might be able to get away with real SLRs.
Hi
Is it allowed to take some pictures of the show?
I have a small digicam. Is it possible to take it in the theatre?
It really depends on the band. The only concert I have been too in the last few years where you had to leave your camera and get it back at the end was at Tool last year. Security guard said that it was because the band themselves had requeted no cameras.
If you look at the photo of Michael at Ardgillan he doesn't seem to mind all the camera I have some from that day myself. The usaul blurry phones ones alas. That still ranks as my fav REM gig though it was hard pushed to beat the amazing feeling of all the cups in the air at Slane. Ohh just got a shiver down my spine.
I think im going to take a disposable - that way if i get it taken off me its only a couple of quid iv lost - and i have a camera on my phone - they wont be removing them
I'm going to buy a disposable cam for my show on July 3rd, so that it's not the ultimate horror if the guys at the entrance don't want any cam to be taken in!

was at the gig this evening, twas classic. start to finish.
there didnt seem to be any hassle about bringing cameras in. the back of the tickets states they are prohibited but there were plenty there and no sign of confiscations.to anyone else heading along,
enjoy!

So, cameras are allowed? So far I only see Ethan's (ace, btw.) pictures. Where are the others' shots?
W...
Cameras certainly allowed. I have the whole gig in video off a digital camera- the quality is OK (A few sound dropouts, but I should be able to mix the sound I recorded off the phone's sound recorder function into the video and sync it up OK).
Basically was holding my phone and camera up all evening with security looking on, no issues. Saw a guy with a big camera wandering around, too.
I wonder if whoever is running this site would consider doing the correct thing with flickr and setting up a group so that people can submit photos to the group from their own user name?
There's my photos over here but I don't know how I'd go about sorting out putting them onto the email. I'll upload them to my flickr account and sort out a group if that gets used for the homepage, but they're there, anyhow :)
Videos will come when I get back from Ireland, tonight.
My photos are too big to e-mail. Can i give them a particular tag on flickr so they show up here?
They are here:

RE bringing in cameras, i had a small digital video camera and was right up the front at the barrier. The security guy did seem to be watching for people videoing, and i heard him warn one person to stop videoing, but lots of people were taking normal photos with no problems. I took lots of normal photos with the security guard right opposite me. There was no search on the way in.
Whoever's in charge of this site should be using a group photostream and set up a flickr group instead of doing something silly like this email-to-this-address business. I know many photographers would like to add stuff to this but don't want to lose control of the photos (IP wise).
i was at rem in marley park and in the point depot in dublin a few years ago. we were first in the queue and to my dismay another queue started in front of us for fanclub members who were to be admitted first for the soundcheck. i have since joined the fanclub and am wondering if anybody knows will this be happening tonight?? will i turn up early like always or can i breeze through as a member of the fanclub?? i'm desperate to know as i just had an operation on my knee and could do without standing outside for hours .. (but of course i will if i have to.... ) Cant wait for the gig tonight..

The first of many from me- still sorting out actually transcoding them and uploading. Sitting in Dublin Airport right now on an internet kiosk.
Please feel free to add these photos to the remdublin flickr pool as I'm having problems doing so. Here's the link to my flickr photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/skyblueskin/741699729/in/photostream/
Just Tuesday's photos at the moment. I'll be putting Wednesday's up soon.
