Hey,
So just back from this gig, man were they on form. Look like they're at home at this stage in the Olympia, i mean Peter Buck even asked the crowd would they mind if they re-did the end of one of the new songs as he wasnt happy Michael knew what he was doing. Michael seemed to be really enjoying feeling so vunerable on stage again. To the point that they played FOUR songs off Chronic Town, amazing! Also his story about Westin Fields before they played it made it seem like he's getting quite nostalgic about the way he used to write songs, which is a good thing.

The new ones were all quite promising, none more so than Horse to Water and the second one about staring down the Barrel or something? We were also treated to Circus Envy from Monster which was cool seeing as all the other oldies were pre 1988.

All in all a brilliant experience seeing them so close and personal but a message to that weird foreign possessed girl who kept on groaning at them "SHUT THE HELL UP, YOU EVEN MANAGED TO PISS THEM OFF YOU WEIRDO"

i agree with you 101 % !! yes - what was up with that bird ? i think she was one step away from doing a linda blair and in need of an exorcism . REM ROCKS !!! .....but we knew that already ;)

hey have to agree with you both. raveen do you happen to work with my mate elaine? met you outside the gig on saturday or sunday? anyhow am just back from tonights gig now and as with the others they were fantastic. i was lucky enough to be able to go to all four live rehearsals so far and will be going tomorrow too. it seems to be getting better each "not show"
i q'd today for a few hours but met some cool people in the q which made the hours go so much quicker - hello susan, samantha, jane and the couple from georgia who i'm afraid i have forgotten their names!

What a nice evening. Felt like real rehearsal. To be honest, I enjoyed it more than the Sunday's one. It's a pity Thursday is the last day...

Hey Guys/Girls
Went to gig last night was absolutely unreal great to hear carnvail of sorts these days ect new songs were good probably need few more listens but the gig was cool, great to see them so close and venue was cool . That girl who kept moaning was pissing everyone off god she needed to can it, and their was some guy behind me kept shouting all night for man on the moon christ they werent gonna play it so get over it. WEll i had an amazing time hope they return soon peace........

don't know what the other (not) shows have been like but last night i was truly blown away.
new songs sounded great - kinda seems like they've gone full circle and are writing from a similar place to their early 80's days but with a contemporary edge.
so it completely makes sense that they're playing the new songs alongside largely chronic town/murmer/reckoning material. it all felt right and sat well together.

but the highlight? - well hearing them pump out harborcoat, west of the fields, carnival of sorts, wolves lower, 1,000,000 etc in a venue the size of the olympia was very special..
..and, despite the best efforts of what seemed like a considerable number of complete twats in the crowd, nothing could spoil that.

if you're going tonight, enjoy - you're in for a treat
