Rather grab the cd to listen to this acoustic song. Certainly it would inspire me a lot. Reminds me of Danny Gokey's music. You know, I really don't care about Danny Gokey – he isn't in Slayer, and American Idol never has enough people singing Slayer tunes. Just kidding…maybe. He hawked his album, My Best Days, his website, and I really don't remember him at all, or even the season he was on. Adam Lambert and whoever it was that won are both forgettable. I wouldn't honestly even spend anywhere close to a payday loans worth to really go to any ex-Idol's concerts…most of them have been very forgettable. There's only a few that have really broken wide open.

you may be right about the lifting but i found it on a bootleg i got which also contained a brilliant song called fascinating which i belive was left off reveal. the production on reveal ws a little off i dont think pat mccarthy was ready (even though he is vastly experienced in the studio)for that step up. and yes ignoreland did rock when i saw the manchester gig last year as did 7 chinese brothers.
your smiths choices i do agree are very good my 'outside' choices would be:
holidays in the sun, bodies and no feelings from the pistols never mind the bollocks.........
but i think we are in danger of opening a whole can of worms here!!!!

I agree with you, you're talking about the alternative version you find in In Time, aren't you? Definitely better. But I was joking with Reveal anyway; not exactly a great 3-opening-songs album! (although I love "All the Way to Reno"). The problem with Reveal is maybe the production, don't you think so? For example, I used to be indifferent to "I've Been High", even when played at concerts, but now that I've finally listened to the Olympia version I can say that it is not bad, I almost like it, and I like the performance very much. Michael Stipe sounds particularly moved. I wished they had put "Ignoreland" in this forthcoming release: the version they played last year on tour was sooo good! But perhaps they still hadn't thought of it when they did the Dublin rehearsals.
Ok, 3 better opening songs than those from Accelerate outside the R.E.M. cannonball...uhm...I just say one, rather randomly: "The Queen Is Dead", "Frankly, Mr Shankly" and "I Know It's Over" from The Smiths' "The Queen Is Dead".

Here there are 3 better opening songs on an album:
"Harborcoat", "7 Chinese Bros.", "So. Central rain", from Reckoning. Or what about: "Begin the Begin", "These Days", "Fall On Me" from Pageant? Or what about: "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?", "Crush With Eyeliner", "King of Comedy" from Monster? Or what about: "The Lifting", "I've Been High", "All the Way to Reno" from Reveal (ha ha no, I was joking :)). I think you have to admit I'm right. But Those 3 songs from Accelerate are very good anyway. cheers.

i found around the sun very hard to listen to and even now haven't played it for about 3 years. on hearing the dublin take on this song on you tube i couldn't stop smiling and knew the album was going to be great. the album version is much tighter and opens the album with such venom you cant help but be pinned to your seat and listen, this was topped off by a fantastic live version in manchester 2008. i defy anyone to find a better opening 3 songs on an album than those on accelerate and the album could well be the bratty love child of murmur and monster, discuss!!

you may be right about the lifting but i found it on a bootleg i got which also contained a brilliant song called fascinating which i belive was left off reveal. the production on reveal ws a little off i dont think pat mccarthy was ready (even though he is vastly experienced in the studio)for that step up. and yes ignoreland did rock when i saw the manchester gig last year as did 7 chinese brothers.
your smiths choices i do agree are very good my 'outside' choices would be:
holidays in the sun, bodies and no feelings from the pistols never mind the bollocks.........
but i think we are in danger of opening a whole can of worms here!!!!
I agree with you, you're talking about the alternative version you find in In Time, aren't you? Definitely better. But I was joking with Reveal anyway; not exactly a great 3-opening-songs album! (although I love "All the Way to Reno"). The problem with Reveal is maybe the production, don't you think so? For example, I used to be indifferent to "I've Been High", even when played at concerts, but now that I've finally listened to the Olympia version I can say that it is not bad, I almost like it, and I like the performance very much. Michael Stipe sounds particularly moved. I wished they had put "Ignoreland" in this forthcoming release: the version they played last year on tour was sooo good! But perhaps they still hadn't thought of it when they did the Dublin rehearsals.
Ok, 3 better opening songs than those from Accelerate outside the R.E.M. cannonball...uhm...I just say one, rather randomly: "The Queen Is Dead", "Frankly, Mr Shankly" and "I Know It's Over" from The Smiths' "The Queen Is Dead".

Here there are 3 better opening songs on an album:
"Harborcoat", "7 Chinese Bros.", "So. Central rain", from Reckoning. Or what about: "Begin the Begin", "These Days", "Fall On Me" from Pageant? Or what about: "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?", "Crush With Eyeliner", "King of Comedy" from Monster? Or what about: "The Lifting", "I've Been High", "All the Way to Reno" from Reveal (ha ha no, I was joking :)). I think you have to admit I'm right. But Those 3 songs from Accelerate are very good anyway. cheers.
i found around the sun very hard to listen to and even now haven't played it for about 3 years. on hearing the dublin take on this song on you tube i couldn't stop smiling and knew the album was going to be great. the album version is much tighter and opens the album with such venom you cant help but be pinned to your seat and listen, this was topped off by a fantastic live version in manchester 2008. i defy anyone to find a better opening 3 songs on an album than those on accelerate and the album could well be the bratty love child of murmur and monster, discuss!!

Went in when the doors opened and there was nobody there so found a pillar to lean on, at the front stage right.
Living well always stands out for me, i thought the words were something about things lost in box's.
It was a great night and I saw Peter at the stage door afterwards but gave up waitng for the others around 1 am.
Slept in the hire car on the banks of the Lithey.
Good and memorable adventure.

This is the first song I heard from Accelerate. I was lucky enough to visit the band in the studio in Vancouver. We (three of us from Warners) were anxious about what we would hear, and I think the guys anxious about playing it back. Was it going to be a slower record?
When Jackknife pressed "play" on the protools screen and this song started, there were many ear to ear grins in the room, and some furious typing on Blackberry's as we radioed back to home base. I think my e-mail said "OH MY GOD, THIS SONG WILL PART YOUR HAIR"
